How much should a used Benelli Nova synthetic stock go for? |
| A:(from boker_magnum) | |
|
Although you don't report if it's a 12 or 20 gauge, regardless, $300 for it is an outstanding haggle! You did not get ripped off, you got a very fair deal on an awesome shotty! Way to go!

Is the Benelli M4 worth the money? Or is a Mossberg 500 with a M4 stock just as good? |
| A:(from Maker) | |
|
That's a adamant question. Both fire 12 gauge shells. One is a semi auto, one is a force. The Benelli will have less recoil and fire faster than the Mossberg 500. The Benelli also has adjustable sights, but it's almost replica the price. Also with a new Benelli 1014 it may not cycle lower recoil shells such as bird speedily. The pump will feed anything you put through it as long as you don't short stroke the examine. Pump's require two hands to operate and are harder to serve from the prone position. Since your goal is to find a platform to fire 12 gauge shells you have a lot of options. Unless you are hung up on looks a salubrious hunting 12 gauge can be accessorized into a very capable home defense shotgun. For criterion an 11-87 with 21", smooth bore, rifle sighted barrel, and interchangeable chokes and mag addendum will give you as much capability as the Benelli with money left over. It's a choice you will have to make. I ourselves won't spend that much money on a single purpose, single use firearm, when there are so many other options ready. Not that the 1014/M4 isn't a great shotgun. But it's not perfect either. The Mossberg 500 is a piece-goods e freight shotgun for a fair price. Even with it the fixed sights do not allow for correcting that will give you the ability to send slugs 75 - 100yds with the right slug-deny combination. If it's not an adjustable choke you are stuck with improved cylinder which limits the functioning range of buckshot to 20-25yds or the distance at which you can keep all your pellets on a silhouette. Even with it I would buy a honest hunting shotgun, for skeet, trap, birds, rabbits, squirrels, deer and then change barrels and magazine extension to my home defense shotgun.

Benelli steady-grip vs. standard grip/stock? |
| A:(from David E) | |
|
The answers to your questions will depend in great measure on what you're going to be shooting at or hunting. While you can chalk a lot of it up to personal preference, the usually accepted uses for the steady-grip type stocks are for aiming or despoil-like applications. These would include turkey hunting, deer hunting, strategic or home-defense shooting. The standard stocks are for the more traditional r of shotgunning--wing-shooting and hunting moving targets. For an all-around gun, I'd indicate you buy the standard stock. If you're primarily going to hunt turkeys or you're in a shotgun-only deer hunting zone, you might lean the steady grip. To solve your problem entirely, Benelli is now offering several of their models in a combo case that includes *both* stocks with the gun.
