Buell Blast?
I'm 6'1", 175 lbs. I'm looking for a starter bike to learn on. Am I too big to ride a Buell Blast? I've seen one for sale for $2200, barely any miles on it, and it seems like a good starter bike. What do you think? I know there are 2 different seat heights (27.5 and 25.5 inches, I believe), but I'm not sure the height of this particular one. I'm just assuming it's the shorter bike (the owner says he bought it for his wife). Best answer awarded, thanks to all.

I'm 6'1 , 197 lbs and when I was looking for a first bike, I looked at the Buell Blast and said, "NO Way" when I saw how small it actually is.
Maybe a good bike for learning on or for a smaller person, but not as a first bike for a taller person.
But it would be in your best interest to go to a HD/Buell dealer and try one out for size yourself.

How do you replace a drive belt on a 2002 Buell Blast?
Have a 2002 Buell Blast and need to install a belt.

You really should get yourself a manual ,if for no other reason for the torque specs.
The belt is replaced by removing the rear wheel( you may have to pull off the belt guard as well.
Remove the front pulley cover and remove the belt.
Install, replace the cover ( torque to spec.) replace your rear wheel and align and tension the belt ( torque the axle to spec.)and replace your belt guard.
The alignment and tension on a belt drive is important and would be explained in a manual.

Buell blast, were can I get aftermarket parts for it?
I'm looking to buy a 2001 Buell Blast, but I'm having a hard time finding websites that offer aftermarket parts for it. I'd like to find a few sites that I can rely on before buying the bike. I don't want to buy a bike I can't get parts for.

What kind of parts do you think you need?
Aftermarket parts are usually considered to be performance modifications or appearance accessories. There isn't much of an aftermarket for the Buell Blast, simply because the little bike isn't an extremely popular motorcycle on the American market.
As far as maintenance and repair parts are concerned... Any local Harley-Davidson dealer should be able to get you everything you need to keep the bike running.

Can anyone help with an estimate of the cost of fixing a crashed Buell Blast?
Please lay off the "get a better bike" comments, as I really need some help here. I am a poor college student and I don't have money to throw around, which is one of the reasons I went with a Buell Blast. Yes, I do like it, too!
I recently crashed and would like to know an approximation of how much the repairs will be. Here's what appears to be wrong with it:
One of the forks is bent (not extremely, but enough to notice). The other fork is fine, however, this bend had angled the wheel so now the rotor is scaping on the brake a small bit. I checked the wheel, and it (and the rotor) do not seem to be warped. (I hear forks for Blasts go for around $130 bucks, is this true?)
When I push the bike foward, it turns to turn right, on it's own (I'm thinking this is due to the angled wheel). The engine and brakes are fine. If I replace the fork that is bent, it seems everything will be OK. What do you think? And is it possible to fix with a man who's had experience with fixing cars?
Oh, also, if you're thinking that there is no way for one fork to bend and not the other...the bike has some "free" room between forks...and the bent fork was just pushed over fairly close to the supposedly-non-bent fork.

If you can fix your mobility for less than $200, I say do it.

Buell Blast? Is there a better beginner bike in the same price range?
I am looking at getting a first bike. I am thinking about getting a Buell Blast. They are a little small for me but I find myself fairly comfortable. Is there a better beginner bike in the same price range? I have already tried the Ninja 250 and find it uncomfortable. So whats the verdict? Is the Blast a good bike?
How good a deal would I have to get on one of these before it would be worth it?

my dealership sells them and they seem to sell quickly. as far as being a tech in the shop ive worked on the first year ones and all ive had to do is rocker box gasket replacement. there are no accelerator pumps on the carbs. it is a one lung motorcycle so it will vibrate at lower rpms. as far as buying a brand new one i would stay away from that, just because you know the resale is only going to be around 2000-3500 so i would try to find a used one. its moreless a sportster with one cylinder missing. great bike problem free, just keep your maintenance up. good luck.
