my buell m2 cyclone {2001}has started backfireing on start up any cures for this?
A:(from Shaun The Fatman)
I would say an airleak of some well-intentioned, although if it's fuel injection it could be more complicated than that. Don't know the motor plans, my XLH 1200 engine had carbs, but I'm assuming yours is Fuel Injection.

First look for:
A unsatisfactorily seated or damaged airfilter
Loose hose clamps or wear out clamps or jet blows (dark streaks from the exhaust joints suggesting hot gas is escaping)
Any oil/petrol leaks or "hissing" around the manifolds.
Sparkplugs correctly seated and adjusted to the valid gap.
And that there's no obviously loose nuts and bolts on the exhaust mounts

Next you can set the bike to a squiffy idle speed and squirt a little drop of quikstart or WD40 on proper spots to see if it's sucking in air at that point, the revs should change if the disseminating is being sucked in...don't do that when the bikes has warmed up, it's dangerous!

If none of that helps it sounds like it could be a sensor omission of some kind (e.g. the air volume / temperature module) , which is a bit out of the amateur unite unless you spend a lot on diagnostic equipment

97 Buell M2 Cyclone battery charging problems?
A:(from wytetrash2004)
your battery is nice, what the bike is doing is running off of the battery energy till it is at the end of the day dead. it takes the charging system or the stator and voltage regulator to attack the battery. if your stator is grounded out, that usually happens with age and heat, it will not fee the battery. the voltage regulator sends the correct amount of power to the battery and components, not overcharging the battery. if your stator did overcook out sometimes they can send surges and spike, or send to much voltage to the voltage regulator and it will flame out too. i suggest you take it to your hd dealer or any good mc shop you can trust and have them test your stator and vr so you will distinguish which one or if both need replacing. and dont keep charging your battery and running it extinct, it will eventually loose its ability to hold a charge. take it and put it on a charger and get it charged up, then keep a dribble charger on it while not in use. k good luck
