What was once a genuine urban turn of phrase suddenly finds its way into day-to-day language, and its trendy tone is spewed casually from stage schoolers to grannies. Now that you be familiar with how I feel about that, let me share a great piece of slogan: "An iron fist in a unmanly-bellied world." Huzzah! Bring that copywriter a beer - a Harley-branded beer.
Certainly meant to get your attention and anchor your emotions with that zinger, Harley-Davidson wants to let you differentiate that they've carved out another bike from their 1,200cc Sporty platform, and slammed it with hard-nosed ' looks and attitude. The XL1200N Sportster Nightster is low, bobbed and blacked-out. With a gut full of torque, low seat-top, minimalist features and subtle colors, this Harley really had me contemplative it was one that I would gladly have in my garage. It even turned the head of a non-biker female squeeze.

The Nightster has the same 73 cubic-inch, rubber-mounted, nutrition-injected, air-cooled Evolution five-speed Twin with a compression relationship of 9.7 and churning out a claimed pavement-ripping 79 ft-lbs. of torque that all the other 1200 Sporties have. But the mill in this bike comes in a "rawboned eat." Rawboned? Just know that it (like most other components on the bike) is bad-tempered. That black simplicity finds its way across much of the rest of the bike. The low-move upwards bars, clutch and brake levers, headlight covering, speedometer, mirrors, turn/stop lights, screw up one's courage to the sticking point-spoked wheels, and drilled-out belt-drive watchman all come in a slick black finish. Heck, even the front fender clamps are malignant.

1st pick LaPera, 2nd Saddleman. Keep in mind ,the really comfortable seats are kind of crabbed and bulky. On a Sportster you may want to settle for something in between. What I would suggest is this, get a catalog, like J+P ,Dennis Kirk or Jireh, ukase every seat you are interested in, try them all. Then return the ones you don't like. | |
