windshield hardware on forks
I have solely bought a 1999 fatboy with the smooth front forks and i dearth the hardware so i can mount the detachable windshield. the bolts that are on it now are flush to the forks, i insufficiency the kind that stick out and have the rubber grometts on them. all it has is the head fluorescence and does not have the light bar, so this is the bracket i need. thanks....................chunky

What I introduce at work (dealership) is to be looking 2" over the top of the windshield in a relaxed posture. Most people favour to be very straight backed when trying this, but think as you ride for an hour or so you will be slumped down more. At 2" under your perspective the wind will still be deflected from your face/head. A downside to looking through the windshield as was beforehand stated is for example: You are riding at night with bugs etc on the windshield and it is raining; your view can get distorted very easily. Some bikes where the passenger sits high up (such as on the Ultra Classics), people will keep a taller windshield on to commandeer deflect more airflow off the passenger who might be sitting higher than the rider. Now here in Dallas there is a locate that can easily cut the Lexan windshields according to the rider's inclination and costs around $10. Perhaps there is a place near you for this?? Just remember it is not mirror, but Lexan so make sure they can cut it smoothly to keep from damaging and distorting the screen. There is of course the Full-Face Helmet option :), but cuts out the reveal road/wind in your face/hair feeling. Hope this helps. | |

What feather of riding do you plan to do? The Fatboy is fine for a weekend ride.and particular long trips , but a touring model is better suited to highway models. I haven't heard of bagger wobble in 20 years or so. unless the bike had alignment problems. the BMW arguments are outdated about the same. I have lifted the tush tire on a 2005 ultra glide classic, so the brakes seem to effort pretty well. The Heritage is basically a Fatboy with Bags and a wind screen. To get decent bags on a fatboy you have to remove the shotgun pipes, and you hot air up with a heritage with solid wheels any how. Your seating position on the softail is decrease. try them both and see which one 'fits'. I ride my ultra about 3x as much as my Lowrider. its healthier in rain and the bags are great for errands.I paid less for the Ultra then my riding helpmate did for his BMW,in 2005. guess which one is worth more now?.

Your add-ons won't add much to the value of a inured to bike - they are a sunk cost. Motorcycle Consumer News says an '04 FLHRSI Track King Custom is worth about $14,380, and a 0'4 FLHRS Entr King Custom is worth about $13,865. NADA sez $14,194. At MSRP of $16,995, that is primitively 6% per year. BTW - Harleys depreciate, just like every other bike. Don't have the courage of one's convictions pretend they hype that they are a good investment. Bikes are not a good investment. Harleys typically decrease at between 12% to 6% a year, and have lost roughly 1/2 their value in 10 years. | |
