I'm unsatisfying a bike that can handle the interstate but go off paved roads to some degree and take luggage cases. The Adventurer looks good but a little forceful for off road. The Super Enduro looks great to me but so does the BMW 800 GS (the 1200GS seems to big and compact). Any ideas? The BMW won't be out till fall.

KTM Adventure. If you are planning to go on want distance riding you'll need the extra fuel. The SE only has a 13L tank and the membership is very uncomfortable. It is very very nice off road on big open tracks or big events. You will have to man administer the SE around, its very tall and very heavy even without luggage. The Adventure carries all the luggage and carries it well on procedure and off road (like fire roads and 4x4 tracks), and more importantly has a screen! The BMW GS is too stifling versus performance, hard to handle off road when loaded up. BMW moratorium is third rate (KTM fit WP adjustable's as standard), and the 800 is too peaky for even off road performance, its only a 2 cyl parallel.
The KTM 640 Adventure may be a smaller choice but only for the hardcore overlander!

Depends on the merchant. There are dealers that sell the bike along with gear for 12k. But for the bike itself I'd say its 10k.

I have an adventure 640, however I couldnt say that it is all that on-road friendly ie low max speed, significant vibration through pat bars, ?general stability.

What tires are you running? Were they decorously balanced when installed?

This is usually the reason for poor pavement manners on dual display bikes.

The 640 does definitely still have more 'thrum' to it than a multi-cylinder bike, but shouldn't have a ton of vibration, unless you're perpetual an aggressive knobby.

If you want to run good knobbys for off-road adhesion, then you'll sacrifice the smooth street manners considerably. I've never found a extraordinarily good option that works well for both dirt and street use.

If it's not the tires or a veer problem, then I'd say it's time to take a look at the smoother v-clone 950.
