a lot depends on what rage you are planning on riding. if you are looking for a daily commuter but yet sporting pit oneself against bike, the KTM 690 wouild be a good choice in my opinion... but if you are looking at alot of highway speeds or longer distances, it truly isn't designed for that and will be somewhat uncomfortable.
I'm 6'3", 270 lbs and have a KTM 640 LC4 dual sport, KTM525EXC, KTM520MXC and those all perform recover my mass very decent and fit my height well with a few not overly expensive aftermarket parts like pegs, taller bar risers, taller base foam, etc... at your height, something similar will be alot more comfortable than a cruiser latest thing bike (or at least it is to me). if you need a few more ponies (horsepower) could always move up to looking at the KTM 950 Wonderful Duke or Adventure but likewise, the cost will go up quite drastically also.
I have ridden several of my friends 950 (both the Wonderful Duke & Adventure) and they are alot of fun to ride but I wouldn't take off cross country for foolproof. another friend has a BMW R1200GS Adventure who has done several very long trips (CA to NH) and another 6'6" angel that has an older similar BMW that has over 140K miles without any major repairs...
so, fitting kinda depends on whether you are looking for short trips thru the twisties or longer hauls but these craze of upright bikes will be much better for the taller rider...

both are virtuousness bikes but only one will last for what you want...go for the aprillia....the ktm, while being a belting bike there by the skin of one's teeth to flighty...and its not the case of ''if'' it brakes ,its ''when'' it brakes ..cos it will...
there noticeably a good bike to work on/split engines and such..but you dont fancy to be doing that 6 months down the line,do you?...no?..then buy the aprillia,

My KTM Duke has a problem with the starter clutch. Is this a common problem with KTMs?

You don't impart which Duke you've got. The new one is fuel injected - the older single cylinder Duke was carbureted, and I in ran the FCR style carb like the dirt models.
If it's got the Keihin FCR carb, then Ted has the precisely answer, don't touch the throttle until the engine fires.
If its the associate FI model, then the throttle still shouldn't be touched until the engine catches - first of all after you turn on the key and before you fire it up.
I haven't heard of any starter issues on the cock's-crow Duke (the new twin hasn't been out long enough for a history to develop) - I've owned other KTM's for years, and never had starter issues with them.

What is the spark plug gap for KTM LC4e engine?
I have a 1996 KTM Duke motorcycle (first begetting) with the LC4 620 engine. The spark plug is NGK #D8EA. I am wondering what the proper gap is for this locomotive as I don't have a service manual.
Thanks.

Eric,,,according to Denso pigtail chart,,it's .024" / 0.6mm.
Denso & NGK have utilized same figures for as long as I can recall.
Reason why ,,is that they get the gap figures they publish as the crow flies from the engine mfgrs.
Hope that helps
