How protracted at idle are we talking here? You should not idle this bike for more than a few minutes. Your bike is overheating and there are several possibilities. #1. Make sure of your fan. Is it running? Your fan switch may be bad or the ground wire has come off. If any recent accessories where bolted on the front, tally there first. If your water pump is bad you should see water dripping from the drain hole. If you have a bad crescendo gasket it should be smoking and the exhaust will smell sweet. The thermostat may be bad but most go bad after the bike overheats. (It wipes out the springiness.) If your fill cap is bad you should have water coming out the overflow tube all the time it's match. The other possibility is that there is air in the system. There is a bleed screw at the uppermost part of the system. Usually you won't get air in the system unless the bike was worked on and they didn't bleed it or there is or was a seepage somewhere. | |

There is a evacuate screw on the float bowl. While you're standing on the right side of the bike, looking at the carb, the strain screw is on the left side of the float bowl.
