Lambretta Engine - Finished!

I’ve at the last moment got the engine I’ve been building since last year into the Lambretta.

It’s now 186cc with racing carb and Ancillotti fritter away. It appears to run well although there is some drag from the new clutch plates. The new engine is just surprising, like riding a Ducati after riding with the standard engine for so extensive. There’s a wonderful slurpy noise from the Del’Orto 26mm carb and the boot of acceleration is so much fun.

I’ve already started stripping the old engine with a plan to rebuild it and put it in the other scoot (the GP cutdown thats in France at Estelles parents). Confidently I’ll be a bit quicker with the next rebuild. As Fred Dibnah said of purchase engines “15 years for the first one, I reckon I can do the second in 5″!

Ive stripped down an old combination Lambretta engine but its well grubby, what or how is the best way to clean it up, vapour blast, bead blasting ? its also oxidised !what do you recon ?

T Cut!! and a mitigate rubbing wheel fixed to a drill. after when you can see your face in it try clear laquer which will block it oxidising

All right, manual says oil and gasoline must be mixed by 5%. Existent tank has a capacity of 6 liters, but I mix them separately in a different container, so let's use 10 liters of gasoline as an pattern (and 500 ml - 5% of 10 liters of oil).

Does that mean that I will put 10 liters of gasoline in the container, THEN add 500 ml of oil (with a add up of 10.500 liters of liquid), OR do I have to REPLACE 500 ml of gasoline with the same amount of oil (9.5 liters of gasoline and 0.5 liters - or 500 ml - of oil), ending up with 10 liters of liquids in the tank, but with a much richer amalgam, making it harder to start up? Thats it... thanks!!!

I'll forge this easy for you, drive to the nearest farm and fleet store , and ask the clerk for a newer product for 2cycle motors , its a synthetic oil that you mix with a liter or gallon at a heretofore or 5 gallon , this product works on 50 to 1 , 5 to 1 , 25 to 1 , you mix up the amount on the denomination and use it in the mower , chainsaw , weedwhiper, snow blower, no more different cans with abundant mixes. these produce meets and exceeds all manufactures , go find out , i have used it for 2 years, we use ti a profession , good stuff, good luck !

Steven H 		why are older lambretta engines sometimes difficult to kickstary eventhough in good order looked after?

Some motors are steadfastly to start depending on where in the stroke the piston is sitting when you start your boot.

You might benefit from slowly moving the piston to a particular position in it's stitch before your kick.

Ideally just past TDC .
