see if your sparkplug is wet from petrol if not could be a blockage in fuel, pontoon bowl usually gets stuck, or general dirt blocking the jets, also arrest ht lead not broken causing misfiring if its electronic start it will be a coalesce that's blown making a short circuit....test compression could be rings that have got stuck or broken....make positive your kill switch is in RUN position...not sure on what model you have to be specific...

Restating a question re my 1978 Vespa Piaggio Caio Moped?
In my doubt, I asked what this moped was worth, but I think I confused the question. This is a place moped, not a scooter. It has to either be pedalled to start, or started on the kickstand and then run. As I mentioned in my preceding question, it is in excellent condition and runs great. What is it worth?

it doesn't honestly have any set value... it's only worth what you can get someone to pay for it.... now generally, they esteem their value well... but i've seen no pictures, and you give no real detail (is it all orignial? aftermarket peices added on? if it's all fresh it's worth a good bit, if you can find a collector (easy if you live in big cities like houston) that wants it.

question about a vespa and piaggio zip scooter?
whats the rest in quality? and why is one of them better/worse? which one would you recommend for long distances?

Piaggio makes Vespa. For a extended distance scooter, i would Recommend the piaggio MP3. Its a pricey scooter but it has peerless stability and you dont even have to put your feet down when you stop.

I have a 1978 Vespa Piaggio Ciao Moped. It is in excellent condition - runs great. What is it's sale value?
This is a moped not a scooter. It is started by pedalling it, or can be started on the kickstand and then run.

$10.00 to $200.00 depending on where you palpable and local market. The moped is 30 years old so many people won't buy it. The college compress in some places will buy running old mopeds and scooters for a couple hundred. The Vespa collectors may pay a bit more but that is a intimate market buyer. Salvage /parts dealers will pay scrap figure + a bit more for some popular models that proved a market for spares- as Honda sprees, Yamaha's that college group has head on crash and fall down drunk incidents that need front end and side panels replaced.

I need information about my 1979 Vespa Piaggio Grande for restoration perposes.?
I obtained alot of pieces and parts that I comprehend make a complete Vespa (not like I remeber them looking like) Piaggio (solely like the advertisements of the 70's looked) Grande (which I'm told 'in this configuration' is rare in the U.S.) gain it has a side-car. Puch exploded views, hop-up kits, pieces/parts are easier found so far (I have a Murray Moped with a Puch Motor) but I need to restore my Vespa Piaggio first. I need a piston & ring set to get it running although there are many other things (parts erudite) I hope to find, like correct decals etc., which would be great to locate. I also haven't identified the side-cars derivation but it looks factory made. I owned this scooter w/side-car for 1 hour before I was talked out of it and it was in 1 chewing-out share then (so to speak) so the bright side is that.......well, I'm not sure what the bright side is yet but with your nick I'll find the information I need and a place to order parts for THIS Loveliness before I get talked out of it again! Thank You!
