My son bought a 1980 Puch moped. We don't know how to get it started or how it works if we do. Any help?
According to the info on the side of the bike it is a 2 HP motor that you aren't allowed to use unleaded gas in. Plainly it runs on a gas/oil mixture as there are instructions for mixing them. The rear tire is unpalatable and there is a shock bolt missing. The front brake is very weak. He just wants something to clown around on the farm with. I would just like to get the engine running before I spend any fortune fixing anything else.

I'd lay to rest it. It'll cost more to fix than it's worth...

I don't be versed what the factory spec is, but, almost all two-stroke engines work just mulct with a mix ratio of 32/1 which is 4 oz. of oil in 1 gallon of gas.

I come up with you have to do more than look; you have to take the carb OFF to see what the restrictor plate looks like. How abstain does it go? If it goes over about 35 mph the restrictor has probably already been removed. Often there's a restrictor in the dissipate as well, which is usually way harder to get out 'cos it's usually welded in and much harder to find or see. If all else fails perhaps it's already derestricted and just needs a tuneup? Also, could need "de-coking" i.e. removing the carbon from the fag pipe, ports, cylinder head and top of the piston - this involves dismantling the motor.
