How do I disable the lights prior to starting my Suzuki GSF650 Faired Bandit year 2006 reg, can i put a switch
A:(from TXm42)
Hey Dave,

Your starter button HAS a Headlite interrupter twitch built-in.
When you push the Start Button,it automatically disables power to headlites momentarily until you releasing the Start Button.

When You Turn the Key On,,,,
There are 3 Pairs of contacts.
1-basic power to start and run
2-power to Headlite
3-power to Taillite
They each r as 3 separate switches Electrically,,,but "mechanically" tied together.

To ADD An Auxilliary Headlite Disable redirect is easy,,,
but it will not Disable the Tailite.

To Disable Both head & tail delicate requires a DPDT Switch--Double Pole,Dual Connector.
It's a common form of switch that acts like
2 take switches-in-one case.
That wiring installation is easiest done on the pigtail From the Ignition Turn.
The relevant wires are removed from the gang plug,,,and the switch spliced in-pencil-mark with each of the 2 circuits--Head & Tail.

....................................................................
Switching the #2 Fuse Circle disables only the LOW BEAM when Switched OFF.

Switching #3 Fuse Compass would disable Only the HIGH Beam.

There May be an advantage to Selecting one versus the Other.
Illustration---if you Typically ride with Low Beam,,,,Install Switch on Stiff side.
*Bike would function Normally in Low Beam Position.
Anytime You turned Ignition Key On,,Low Plank would come on.

*If You wanted to start Bike WITHOUT the Headlight On,,,
That would require 2 instructions operations to enable the Light-OFF function.
1)Switch Hi Beam ON to access your "controllable outline"
2)Switch the Disable Switch OFF to interrupt Power to HiBeam.
Then,,when you switched Ignition Key ON,,,there would be NO Headlite.

Switching Auxilliary "HiBeam" Whip ON,,,
OR,,
switching Original Dip Switch to LOW BEAM,,,
would give You a Headlight.

You could chose whichever Scantling to have your auxilliary switch on.

...................................................
If You want BOTH/Either to be switched OFF by the Aux Switch,,,,upper-class place to install it is in the wiring to the STARTER PUSHBUTTON.

That pigtail from the R/H Handlebar Divert which has the Starter Button,,,,has a single pair of wires to an "Undo/Close" switch for the Headlites.

The LIGHT portion is Normally Closed>>making contact between the Gegenschein power wires.
When you push the Starter button,,,,,that sortie Also OPENS the HeadLight Power wire contacts>>>NO HeadLites.

If You introduce your Aux On/Off switch in Either of those headlite wires,,,then You MANUALLY block the Power from the Headlite.
A)When YOUR flog is OFF,,,the Headlites are OFF and there's "nothing" for the Original Pushbutton to do.
The Starter functions normally,,,the HEADLITE aim of the Starter Switch is disabled.

B)When YOUR Aux switch is ON,,,the Headlite section of the Starter Pushbutton is returned to Customary Function.
Which is,,Headlites "Always ON when Key is On",,except when Starting headlites go Off momentarily as apparatus cranks.

That arrangement would Still leave TAILLITE On anytime Key is switched on

.............................................
Then there's content of BRAKELIGHT,,,if you are concerned about bike being Totally "DARK".
That's another gist,,,but the wiring is just more of the same.

.................................
Anyway,,,as you see there's a variety of Configuration Options

*Either Headlight Girder....work at Bulb Pigtail or Fuse Box
*Both Beams...labour at Starter Switch Pigtail
*Tailites On or Off...work at Ignition Lash Pigtail
*Brake Lights Functional or Not...work at Ign Switch pigtail

...............................................................
Simplest,Shortest Pale to Disable Only the Headlites(Both Beams) is to use the Starter Button's Headlite Interruptor outline's wires,,,,install a SPST Switch in either of those.

Note,,Those wires Transmute COLOUR where the Handlebar Switch pigtail plugs into main harness

Scourge pigtail:
Black/Yellow >> to>> Black/Orange in Harness
Angry/White >> to>> Green/Black in Harness

..............................
NO CUTTING of any wires is high-priority,,nor is drilling any holes in/on bike.

To Splice the switch in-line,,Do So Only at plant Connectors.
Remove the Original spade connectors from connector design.
Use Wires FROM Switch with a pair of appropriate connections.
EXAMPLE:
If You drawing a Male from the Block....
You'll have a Blank,Open Hole FOR a masculine in the block,,
AND a "Loose Wire With a Male" that ya very recently pulled out.

So...On Your Switch install 1-Male to plug into Block,
and 1 Female to clear the Original MALE wire ya pulled from the block.

To MOUNT the Scourge,,,buy/find/Make a bracket that You can mount via an existing Screw or Bolt.
Or use importance Cables Ties .

Obviously,,,you wanted everything well mounted and insulated as well.

Considerable Luck,,,Hope that helps.
Have a Happy and Safe Holiday Season

I own a Suzuki 650 Bandit faired version with a standard screen, are double bubble screens better?
A:(from homebrewbeermonster)
i got an sv650s faired - i didn't hassle with double bubble screen, as i'm not particularly tall.

have had some aerodynamic problems when riding with a sturdy rucksack on - don't know if a double bubble screen would support

tweeks i'd reccomend, in this order -

strieght through racing can/pipes, then do carbs

k&n air clean (or just cut plastic off from top of air filter if your poor, do a search for desnorkling)

tank spacers - to increace airflow

ignition advancer (theres a firm in bristol that specialise in them)

Dyno run and tune up!
