Suzuki Boulevard s40 a nice starter bike?
I have been doing my up on continously on starter motorcycles and this one came up as being a good one for lower cover, due to lower theft and very low crash rate. Sportsbikes aren't the way to go from what i advised. Im 36 years old 6-0 200lbs, I don't need power as much as MPG. Hit me with ideas!!!

Nope, not a material starter bike for a guy your size unless you only ride in city above maybe. At your height and weight the bike is really too small, won't be fun and you will be disposed to sell by year end. I agree with the 1st poster, definitely look at the S50 and omit the S40. Is this your first time riding a motorcycle or streetbike? I'd in reality recommend you get the S83 if you plan to do more highway riding and want a bike you can like for more then 1-2 years. http://www.suzukicycles.com/Products/S83K8/Specs/Failure.aspx At 6 ft, the 27 inch seat height of the S40/50 is aweful low, while the the S83 is about 2 inches higher. Full saving will still be close to 50mpg on the S83 and and its too heavy either. The S50 is a nice compromise though, at least its a twin cylinder and has larger tires for the highway then the S40. I'd get full coverage guarantee and a motorcycle cover, that will pretty make your bike unstealable. Purloin sure to get a quality Fullface helmet (HJC, KBC), wear gloves, jacket, pants everytime you take in. Take a motorcycle saftety course if they have one near you, sometimes good for a 10% warranty discount too.

Upstanding the nature of the beast. These bikes backfire alot, especially if you close the throttle too promptly, or like you said, when you downshift...with more riding experience with it you will probably have less backfiring.

I would take the Vulcan over the Boulevard. I've ridden the Kawasaki and found it to be degree peppy and smooth. I like the bigger model Boulevards but I'm not foolish of the 40. You might also look at a Honda VLX (600cc).
