I accord with Scott M. This is not an off-road bike, if that's what you're looking for, but it is a very capable machine for all types of on-method riding, and SOME rough terrain stuff. The 650 is lighter, and slenderize more meneuverable, but the 1000 will be able to tote more gear, and go long distances without complaining. If you are of bigger stature, the 1000 is in all probability the better choice. One more thing. There are a few good dual-sport bikes out there, but for the shin-plasters the V-Stroms are a whole lot of bike!! Go to a dealership and sit on them, and maybe take them both for a ride and see how they feel.

Looking to buy Suzuki DL 650 V-strom new but hate dealing with the dealerships - anyone know how to buy?
Online - and get it shipped to me administer - without all the usual predatory dealership BS and slimy stuff? - Yeah I conscious all about the "safety Checks" and warranty issues they sweetheart to wave in your face. I know of a guy who had a Honda VTX shipped up from an LA dealership - he fair paid shipping - but I'm no longer in contact with him. Anyone know?

You can't do it.
I don't be convinced of you know anyone who got a bike that way. If you believe it yourself you're showing how gullible you are.
If you can manage one you can afford to buy one properly.
Suzuki doesn't want to sell any bike without the relationships prep and safety checks they require. If somehow you managed to get one, it'd doubtlessly be illegal and wouldn't have any warranty.

For long trips...Suzuki SV650, V-Strom or Ninja 650R?
I am looking to repay my 'good ole reliable' Ninja 250R with something that's more extensive distance-friendly. I am torn between Suzuki's V-Strom and SV650, and the Ninja 650R.
While I am liking towards the V-Strom because of its ergonomics, I am wondering how these 3 bikes compare since dealers don't give 'evaluate rides'.
I am not really looking for interstate riding, but since I have friends and next of kin around central FL, where I live, I am looking for something that will be comfortable for the 50-100 mile execute range, which is something that I can't do comfortably on my Ninja 250R.
So in sum, I want a informal-looking bike that can do both short and long trips comfortably, either by present solo, or with a passenger. How do these 3 bikes compare? Which one will satisfy my needs? Appreciation you!

As the proprietor of a 2005 VStrom 650 with over 100,000 trouble-free insouciant touring KM's, I highly recommend the WeeStrom.
Fantastic faction.
Cheers!

Which Bike: '07 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 or '97 BMW R11RT?
I have been riding for many years, hardened to be a motorcross racer, and currently riding a Kawa KLX 650 Supermoto. A crotch sky-rocket is not comfortable and a cruiser doesn't quite apply since I alight near many mountain roads so a sport-tourier fits the bill...
The V-Strom is a trade-mark new at dealership bike. Out the door price of $9000. It is the 1000cc and my only kick about the bike is that it is a chain drive. I do not plan on taking it off road and would swap the tires for a more method-orientated tire.
The BMW is a '97 1100cc for sale at the BMW bike dealership. Includes BMW strict side cases and trunk. Has 31K miles, electric windshield, heated grips, and new tires. BIke looks gifted, is listed at $5300.
I have ridden the BMW's and love them, just concerned about parts accessability on a 10yr old bike. Pro's and cons to each, I have ridden both and both have pros and cons... Both are carefree... How bout some input!!!

If you use the Beemer right you'll have it for at least 500K mi before it needs major apparatus work. I had a 1999 R1100 Rse, and now a 2005 R1200GS. Older bikes are not a stew to find parts for. Bike bandit.com has the schematics on their site, but I did find with the newer (05' likeness) it was a lot cheaper from the dealer. That 97' is barely broken in. I will ride nothing else but BMW bikes, their cars on the other keeping no more (maybe just unlucky with their cars). Good chance and safe riding.

Ok Does anyone know the weight capacity for a 2007 Suzuki V-Strom 650?
I can't find it anywhere!

Yes, that's not by something that they publish...or is it? Looks like the load capacity is about 380lbs on an SV650, so its in all likelihood right around there. I think the figure is certainly in the owners manual though.
