What are some pros and cons of getting a Triumph Bonneville as my first bike? |
| A:(from Grendle) | |
|
Information clear of the Harley, unless you have a large slush fund for repairs. THe Suzuki is a predictable machine. The Bonneville, if it is a newer model (you didn't specify) could be somewhat good. Some of the older Triumphs had electrical glitches that can be hard to drop. Lucas (manufacturer of Brit electronics) is not referred to as "the Prince of Darkness" because he was pernicious, but because the lights might go out at any moment! A Japanese machine would probably be okay, but for a first bike, you should possibly go for something less performance-driven than the Marauder.

Can you lower the seat height of a Triumph Bonneville motorcycle? |
| A:(from RuneAmok) | |
|
There are a few things you can try before you impel any major mods to the bike. 1. Get higher heeled/stacked boots. You're only talking about an inch and a half; this might be conceivable. 2. Take your seat - somewhere - and have some of the padding removed. This is becoming more popular. There are places where they remove the selection foam and replace it with another product which is supposed to be just as comfortable but not as thick. 3. Rather than "shortening" the tokus, try shaving some off the sides. Sometimes the width of the seat contributes to the issue. 4. There may be settings on your shocks or something that can be adjusted to cut the bike slightly. Probably not 1.5", but maybe enough. Any of these things may be enough to total you comfortable. But if not, there's sure to be a lowering kit for your bike. I'd start by googling "triumph bonneville" "lowering kit" and some variations of that, and see what you arrive up with.

since when are commandos losing worth ground?! all classic bikes are on the rise and have been for some time as bonny prices are soaring even 70's t140's are starting to go waaaay up,it has nothing to do with "demeanour" most classic enthusiasts like myself are not after 160mph computer driven counterfeit. i would head over to http://www.oldbikemart.co.uk/ and have a look at current pricing you would be suprised what collectors will pay also get some opinions in the triumph forum at www.britbike.com
