Do you feel happy and inspired when you watch the movie "Triumph of the Will" (Triumph Des Willens)?
I am part German, so it makes me very proud and inspired to watch it. I conviction Germany can return again someday to its previous greatness!

Very interesting, Kate, and I agree. However, if you compare Germany to Communist Russia, the Russians made the Germans in WW2 look like choir boys. Stalin killed *60,000* of his own people.

You must accept, whilst an incredibly controversial propaganda film by today's standards, at the outmoded Triumph of the Will was a magnificent achievement for the people of Germany, overcoming many technological constraints of the stretch period, as well as perhaps bypassing a few ethical constraints on the way.
Triumph of the Will, while commissioned by perhaps one of the most conscience-less men in biography, was in itself, not actually all that racial and anti-jew. Throughout the film no actual direct comments are made as to the Jewish people.
Overall a very well made film, but an incredibly controversial topic. I am not congratulating the Nazi's for the murders they committed, nor am I condoning what they have done. I suppose the holocaust to be by far the single most discussing display of total lack of woman rights in modern history. But, I am congratulating Leni Riefenstahl on an incredibly meticulous film, which was ultimately a filmic, if not ethical, success judging by the bigness of discussion it has recieved.

G-d, it's great knowing that one of the aspects of Judaism that's kept us universal through the darkest times in our history is our sense of humor ! :-)
