Is it possible to replace the engine in a vespa with a motorcycle engine? So it can reach triple digit speeds?
Is it physically accomplishable? How much would it cost? Are there alternative ways to modify a vespa to make it really rakish? This is a project I hope to start in the next few years. I want to buy a vespa (new or old, but old is preferred) and soften it to have the acceleration and speed of a nice motorcycle. I was thinking that perhaps it'd be possible if I took out the vespa appliance, and replaced it with a motorcycle engine. But I have doubts that it would be that simple. I was hoping someone with knowledge on vespas/motorcycles could make aware me on the possibilities.

PRO: It gets much larger gas millage. It's very cute. Its MUCH cheaper to maintain. If you fall, less odds to break your legs because your legs are "inside" and not over the sides of a prime mover.
CONS: Not as powerful. Small wheels make it easy to "slither" and fall while cornering.
If you drive it SAFELY, it's a immense transportation.
