There are other engine size (class) of vespa.

So I'll assume you are asking about the smallest 50cc scooter transcribe.

You usually have to be the minimum age of driving (15 in some states, 16 in other states). Most stated desire just regular driver's license (to show you understand the driving rules).

If you do NOT aim on getting a driver's license, they have special scooter year (limited) license.

I heard that in few limited states, there are no licensing requirements at all (by the skin of one's teeth the age limit).

I stand in want to buy a scooter and my favourites by far are from the Vespa line, but they are so expensive. Is there a reason for this?

Somewhat nice machines with an old, established name. Built in Italy where labor is costly. Hence the on a trip price. Unfortunately quality does not match the price lately. In 1980 I bought a 1967 Vespa Sprint 150, which was an A- scooter by those days' standards. Then I bought a Piaggio X8 200 in 2004, which start to yield apart after fist 6 months. Nothing serious but irritating. By the way Piaggio is the actual visitors thet produces Vespa. In 2005 I got a Vespa ET4 150. No major problems but financially embarrassed handling at speeds over 40 mph. My brother just bought a Piaggio FLY 100 about a month ago and it has serious the grippe start problems. Very noisy over the potholes, poor storage arrange and not very good milage. Personally I prefer Honda any day. I have been riding one for the last 2 years and not one glitch.

Go to the maker's website (or dealership) and look for these numbers: wet weight (or dry manipulate) and GVWR. Wet weight is how much the bike weighs when it's full of gas, dry weight is how much the bike weighs when there are no fluids. GVWR is the vulgar vehicle weight rating, which is the maximum amount the bike's tires/ejection/brakes can handle.

If you take the GVWR number and subtract the wet weight horde, that will tell you the maximum weight capacity, or payload, for that particular bike.

Under no circumstances should you ever beat the GVWR for any vehicle.
