How do you change brake pads for a 2002 Yamaha R6 motorcycle? |

--Look at the top of the caliper. There is a pin that goes through the caliper and through the slacken pads. --There is a re-useable cotter pin (clip) that goes through that pin to prevent it from coming out (it's between the outer pad and caliper). --Get rid of that pin and the pads come right out the top of the caliper. --Before removing the pads, use a screwdriver to spread the pads alone (this will push the pistons back into the calipers to make room for the new pads). --You might have to shift some brake fluid from the master cylinder, to push the pistons into the caliper. --If you do any effort with the master cylinder cover off, cover all painted parts of your bike (apply the brakes fluid dissolves paint). --When you get the pads in, pump the brake lever/pedal to determination the pistons out and seat the pads. Top off master cylinder. --Be careful when you first badger the bike with new pads. They won't work until they're broken in. When you get in motion, lightly apply and drag the brakes to score up the pads. You'll have knowledge of when the pads are properly seated if they are strong enough to lock up either wheel. The two tochis corners of the riders seat can be pulled back, you will find two allen head screws, totally remove them and the seat can be removed exposing the battery.

if you put an oversize gasket only on all it will do is drop the compression and lose power! the only time this is normally done is to fit some type of turbo!
